The Eastern Conference Finals concluded with bedlam in the streets of Indianapolis. Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam and the Indiana Pacers sealed their first NBA Finals berth in 25 seasons. Their star power aside, the Pacers’ strength in depth was a factor that really came into play. The team received golden contributions from TJ McConnell, Bennedict Mathurin, Obi Toppin and other rotation players.

This difference in depth was the reason why the Pacers were able to keep their offensive tempo super high. The team pushed the pace even after getting scored on, not allowing the Knicks breathing room on defense. They also put 94-foot clamps on the Knicks’ alpha in Jalen Brunson. They caused turnovers galore, making transition play the biggest difference in offensive performance between both teams.

At the heart of it, these reasons can be attributed to the Pacers’ play and Rick Carlisle’s superb coaching. However, there was also an element of self-assuredness and cockiness from the camp. They knew they had it in them to force the issue and play the games on their terms. But they also needed their star to step up at various crunch points of the series. None of those moments was more important than Game 1, when Haliburton reanimated the Reggie Miller choke.

Indeed, Miller and Haliburton have created a lot of parallels in the fashion that they’ve tormented the Knicks. But the 24-year-old point guard isn’t ready to keep his gamesmanship just between the lines. Haliburton is going above and beyond in tormenting Knicks fans, launching a full frontal assault. He earlier humbled Ben Stiller after the latter’s comments on his pre-Game 6 attire. Haliburton is now turning the screws on the 10 million strong city’s fans with video edits.

The All-NBA guard posted a 54-second clip highlighting the Pacers fan accosted by the Knicks fanbase outside Madison Square Garden. Set to the hit song I Get Money by 50 Cent on his third album Curtis, the video also showed many of the vintage playoff moments created in this series.

50 Cent has not been a good luck omen for the Knicks

The hip-hop legend has not been a good omen for Knicks fans during the 2025 playoffs. Even as the team reflects on its first Conference Finals appearance in 25 years, the manner of their playoff exit has meltdown written all over it. And a lot of those have happened in games that 50 Cent has attended. The Queens rapper was present at a first round loss against the Detroit Pistons at MSG.

50 then attended a Knicks loss to the Celtics in the following round. The Get Rich or Die Tryin creator continued his streak of bad omens for the Knicks even in the Conference Finals. He was present at Game 4, which the Pacers held on to win after a fantastic battle at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The rap veteran has built a bond with the veritable ‘opp’ in Haliburton. He has praised Haliburton for the confidence that the Pacers table setter has displayed throughout this playoff run.

New Yorkers, however, would be hoping that their city’s greatest commercial hip-hop star could be more of a good omen. Despite their groundbreaking playoff run, the feeling in the city is that they might have let a championship window slip. The team’s cap table only becomes worse next season and beyond. They may never have a more favorable season to maximize their championship opportunities. And whether it is 50’s fault or not, he will bear some brunt of blame for their playoff failings in 2025.
