The Indiana Pacers pounced on the opportunity to trade for Tyrese Haliburton, knowing he was the perfect fit for head coach Rick Carlisle’s fast-paced offense.

He repaid that faith with back-to-back All-Star appearances in his first 2 full seasons, as well as two All-NBA 3rd team selections. He led the league in the 2023-24 season in assists, marking a dramatic change from what he was doing with the Sacramento Kings.

Last season, the Pacers did not start well, but once they entered the New Year, there was no one stopping them. The Pacers were one of the hottest teams in the league and knew they had it in them to take it all the way.

Tyrese Haliburton’s heroics in every round of the playoffs brought the focus back onto the Indiana Pacers. Fans wanted them to win so bad that the rest of the NBA cheered every time they defeated their opponents.

Then in the Finals, the underdog Pacers received fan support, and that helped them on their way to forcing a Game 7. 7 minutes into the game, and it all came crashing down after their leading point guard tore his Achilles.

To add salt to their wounds from their NBA Finals loss, the Iowa State star was ruled out for the 2025-26 season. While speaking with Logan Paul on the Impaulsive podcast, he revealed his exact timeline.

Basically, from the injury, I think it’ll be 15 months until I play my next game.

This means he will not be back on a basketball court until his offseason preparations start before the 2026-27 season. The Pacers confirmed this a while ago, when they officially shut him down for next season.

Fans shake their heads in disappointment at Tyrese Haliburton’s injury

However, that did not dampen their enthusiasm as millions of fans started to return and watch the NBA. The excitement had returned, and fans were thrilled to know that a small-market team was heading the charge.

This injury, and the confirmation that the point guard will be out for the next season, disappointed those fans. They took to social media to express their feelings, examples of which are listed below.

The 25-year-old has already started his rehab with the Pacers’ medical staff and currently walks around wearing a protective boot and with the assistance of crutches. It will be a while before he walks normally again.

Tyrese Haliburton asked Kevin Durant about regrets of playing through Achilles tear

After Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles, many internet pundits started to wonder if it was wise of him to continue playing with a sore calf. While discussing the injury with Logan Paul, the point guard asked for advice from a person with a similar experience.

Honestly, I called KD after I got my MRI after Game 5, and I asked, ‘Bro, do you regret playing in the game you tore?’ He said, ‘No, not at all.’

The Pacers star added that had Kevin Durant said anything else, it still would not have stopped him from playing in Game 7. But he was happy that his Paris Olympics teammate signed off on it.

As a competitor, the 6′ 5″ star knows the risks and wanted to give his best until he couldn’t. That’s what he did for 7 straight minutes when it felt as if he was going to lead his team to its 1st-ever title. That was until the injury changed history.
