Tyrese Maxey deserves to be in conversation for future face of the NBA after clutch playoff outing against Knicks, admits Andraya Carter

Tyrese Maxey

Tyrese Maxey last night was the Philadelphia 76ers’ savior, as he bailed them from the brink of a premature elimination. The league has begun to take notice of him and that includes ESPN’s analyst Andraya Carter.

Andraya Carter was full of praise for Tyrese Maxey. It was to the extent that she even advocated for the 2024 NBA Most Improved Player to be in the conversation for the next face of the league.

Tyrese Maxey has to be in the conversation for the future face of the league. Who do people talk about? Anthony Edwards, people have talked about Victor Wembanyama, Chet [Holmgren]… 50-point performances? This performance in the Garden where you put the team on its back, especially with the way Embiid struggled, and the way Tyrese Maxey stepped up, he has to be in the conversation, period.

The Philadelphia 76ers were on the brink of an early exit before Maxey stepped up with 30 seconds left on the clock to send the game to overtime. He ended the game with 46 points, nine assists, and five rebounds.

Furthermore, the next face of the league has seen names like Anthony Edwards or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander float around, but based on his recent showing and performance for the Sixers, aside from last night’s performance where he led the team in the absence of Joel Embiid. Thus, Carter believes he should be in the conversation for the next face of the league that would take the mantle from an aging LeBron James.

LeBron James celebrated Tyrese Maxey’s late shot

LeBron James was tuned in to see the New York Knicks-Philadelphia 76ers game and just like ESPN’s Andraya Carter, he was impressed with the young star’s performance. Particularly the beyond-the-arc shot that sent the game into overtime.

He went to popular social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) where he commented after the crucial shot, which has now gone viral.

TYRESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BANG

Maxey then continued from where he stopped during the overtime as the Sixers eventually won the game 112-106 to set up the crucial game 6. And with the form of Maxey, the 76ers have a shot at making it through.
