Before their last week’s loss to the Washington Commanders, Tyrique Stevenson was quietly setting himself to be a star in the NFL. But his part in Jayden Daniels‘ Hail Mary, which cost his Chicago Bears the game, has left him and his team in a state of disarray.
Tyrique Stevenson infamously first taunted Commanders fans before running to stop the Hail Mary toss. In that process of trying to play hero ball, he tipped it into the hands of the waiting Commanders receiver which became the game-winning touchdown. For the Bears though, it was heartbreaking to lose in the final seconds.
Clips of this situation reached the Chicago Bears and for the sake of maintaining harmony in the locker room, they decided to punish the second-year cornerback. The Bears benched him for their Week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
But new information from Fox Sports NFL Insider Jay Glazer suggests that harmony has been broken. Before the game against the Cardinals, Glazer was asked if the situation surrounding Tyrique Stevenson had an impact on the Bears locker room.

Therefore, not only was his game-losing play enough to send his teammates shaking their heads, but now, he pulled himself out of practice, something that according to Glazer, did not sit well with his teammates. The corner’s immaturity could have a detrimental effect on not only the team but his own future as well.
Tyrique Stevenson played a lot of snaps in blowout loss to Cardinals
The Chicago Bears went with their new plan of not starting Tyrique Stevenson. Seeing the way the Arizona Cardinals were playing, the coaches called upon the second-year cornerback to stem the tide. He played a lot of snaps as the home opponents pounded the turf to gain ground.
To put it in perspective, the rushing attack of the Arizona Cardinals had nearly enough yards to cover that from rookie opposing quarterback Caleb Williams. The group scored the only offensive touchdowns of the game as Stevenson and his defensive teammates could not do anything.
On the other hand, the Cardinals’ defense stifled the Bears’ offense, routinely sacking Williams. This game ended up costing the team their winning record, that too in an embarrassing blowout loss of 29-9.
But whatever they are struggling with, the Bears have to figure out a way to win games. Else the voices against the cornerback and his head coach will only grow louder. This team has too much talent to implode in this fashion.
