Over the years, the boxing community has witnessed several intriguing rivalries and intense battles. One notable example is the rivalry between British boxer Tyson Fury and Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko. Recently, Fury reacted to the news of his former rival’s potential return to professional boxing after years of absence from it.

Wladimir Klitschko retired from professional boxing in 2017. However, a few weeks ago, the Ukrainian expressed his desire to return to the boxing ring. This news quickly sparked discussions within the boxing community, including a reaction from his former rival, Tyson Fury. In a recent interview with boxing Chris Mannix, the journalist sought Fury’s thoughts on Klitschko’s potential return to professional boxing.

Thoughts on it? I’ve not really had much to be fair. The guy’s 49 years old. He’s been out of the ring since 2017. I’m not sure what more he’s got to offer. He was finished seven years ago. I’m not sure what he’s got to offer now.

Interestingly, the two heavyweight boxers faced each other in 2015, where Fury emerged victorious, claiming the WBA (super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight championships. After that defeat, Klitschko suffered another loss to Anthony Joshua and announced his retirement from boxing. However, Fury was quite puzzled to hear about his former rival’s news to return to the sport.

Interestingly, Klitschko was an ambitious boxer throughout his career. Even after retiring, he has hinted at a possible return to the ring on several occasions. He has also expressed his desire to break a record and become the oldest heavyweight boxing champion in history.

Turki Alalshikh hints about a potential fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury

In the current boxing landscape, Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi GEA, is one of the influential figures in the sport. He is recognized for his ability to match elite boxers against each other. A notable example of this is the upcoming rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. Additionally, the news of Wladimir Klitschko’s return to professional boxing has garnered significant attention, including from Alalshikh.

Recently, the Saudi delegate attended the 62nd WBC Annual Convention, which was attended by several prominent figures in the boxing community. Notably, Klitschko was also present at the convention. During his speech at the ceremony, Alalshikh discussed some potential big fights for the Ukrainian boxer as he prepares for his return to the ring.

I want to see you one more time in the ring. I heard you’re trying to get a chance of having a world championship belt again. Let’s see the result of Tyson (Fury) vs. (Oleksandr) Usyk, lets see the result of (Daniel) Dubois and I ask WBC, IBA, WBA, WBO to give you a chance to get this dream.

Currently, former boxer George Foreman holds the record for the oldest professional heavyweight boxing champion at the age of 45. However, Klitschko is now 48 years old and has a strong chance to break that record, as Alalshikh aims to give him that opportunity. It will be interesting to see if Klitschko ends up fighting the winner of either the Fury vs. Usyk match or the Daniel Dubois vs. Joseph Parker bout.
