UEFA Champions League: Borussia Dortmund vs Ajax player ratings as Ajax pull of extraordinary comeback

Dutch team Ajax came from a goal down to win 3-1 against Borussia Dortmund. The visitors were put behind after Marco Reus scored from the penalty spot and Mats Hummels received a straight red card. However second half goals from Dusan Tadic, Sebastian Haller and Klassen guaranteed all three points.
Here are the player ratings for the encounter :
Borussia Dortmund
Gregor Kobel (GK) (6.5/10)- The Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper was called late into action of the first half. Ajax counterattacked and Berghuis shot which was cleared away with his legs.
Mats Hummels (4/10)- The veteran German international was at the end of a poor decision by the referee and was sent off. After VAR check Hummels was sent off with a straight red after the tackle on Antony.
Manuel Akanji (5/10)- The defender will be disappointed with the equaliser that they conceded. Antony’s cross could’ve been stopped and Tadic would not have so much of space. He also gave Haller the time to head the ball.
Thomas Meunier (6.5/10)- Thomas Meunier was decent tonight for Borussia Dortmund. He made himself big tonight while defending and put in some important blocks at times.
Jude Bellingham (7.5/10)- The English youngster had a great opportunity to open the scoring but his header wasn’t on target. Bellingham gets the cross from Thorgan Hazard but is off target. Moreover he won the penalty for Borussia Dortmund.
Axel Witsel (6/10)- The Belgian midfielder was operating from the centre of the midfield tonight. He was distributing the balls well to Julien Brandt and Jude Bellingham on either flank.
Thorgan Hazard (5/10)- An unfortunate evening for Thorgan Hazard who had to be substituted after the red card of Mats Hummels.
Marius Wolf (6/10)- Wolf got into some great pockets of space at times and looked to shoot. He took his chance late in the first half but it was safely caught by Pasveer.
Steffen Tigges (5/10)- A tough outing for Tigges who was hardly involved in the game for Borrusia Dortmund. Hence he was substituted by Donyell Malen in the second half.
Julian Brandt (6/10)- The German forward was combining well with Marco Reus and creating opportunities for Borussia Dortmund. He played a lovely one two with Reus whose shot was high and wide.
Marco Reus (8/10)- Marco Reus opened the scoring for the home team with a well taken penalty. He had gone close before as well with a low drilled effort which was palmed away by Pasveer.
Substitutes
Marin Pongracic (6/10)- The defender came on as a result of Mats Hummels red card. He substituted Thorgan Hazard who had to be sacrificed.
Felix Passlack (5/10)- The Borussia Dortmund midfielder came on to replace Marius Wolf. Wolf was injured and hence had to be taken off in the second half.
Donyell Malen- the striker had a late opportunity as he raced Ahead on goal but hit the ball straight at Pasveer who made a comfortable save.

Ajax
Remko Pasveer (GK) (6/10)- The Ajax goalkeeper made some important saves in the first half. The most notable one was against Marco Reus wherein he pulled off a fine low save.
Lisandro Martínez (6/10)- Martinez came close to equalising for Ajax but his volley is just narrowly wide. He brings the ball down well from the corner kick and thunders in a half volleyed effort.
Jurriën Timber (5.5/10)- An average performance from Jurien Timber tonight but he needs to improve his presence of mind. He got lucky on one occasion after his weak clearance was not converted by Marco Reus.
Daley Blind (5.5/10)- Daley Blind who scored at home against Borussia Dortmund wasn’t that effective tonight. He was not given much space and couldn’t go forward as much as he would like.
Noussair Mazraoui (4/10)- A night to forget for the defender as it was his mistake that costed the penalty. Mazraoui clips Bellingham’s legs and after the VAR check the penalty was awarded.
Steven Berghuis (6.5/10)- Berghuis was almost certain to score but failed to direct his shot well. His shot from the edge of the box from the right hand side is just wide of the far end.
Ryan Gravenberch (5.5/10)- Not the best of days for the Ajax youngster. He looked slow on the ball and failed to keep up with the pace of the match.
Edson Álvarez (5.5/10)- Edson Alvarez put in a dangerous tackle on Jude Bellingham which could have become worse. Bellingham completely beats him and he puts in the challenge from behind.
Sébastien Haller (8.5/10)- The big striker tried his luck from far out but got a deflection. His powerful shot comes of Thomas Meunier and is out for a corner Kick. But the man is on a golden run and got the winner just in time. He climbs highest to reach the cross from Antony and glances the ball past Kobel.
Dusan Tadic (8.5/10)- Dusan Tadic created a great opportunity for striker Haller to score. The ball is given away by Hummels and Tadic collects it to deliver the cross to Haller who glances wide. However he takes matters into his own hands to score the equaliser. Tadic fires home at the back post after Antony’s deflected cross comes to him.
Antony (8/10)- The Brazilian winger was once again in action with his blistering pace. He drew in the foul from Mats Hummels which resulted in the defender being sent off. Moreover he got two assists for the goals from Haller and Klassen.
Substitutes
Davy Klassen (5/10)- Klassen came on to replace Edson Alvarez. It’s clear that Eric Ten Haag doesn’t want a red card and is taking no chances.
