“UFC is not for you”- Khamzat Chimaev flames Nate Diaz following his release request, claims Diaz gave up
Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz
It looks like Nate Diaz’s tenure with the UFC might be coming to an end. Diaz asked to be released from his UFC contract publicly on Twitter.
Much like his elder brother Nick Diaz, Nate likes to do things his own way. If Nate feels like he isn’t being treated well by the UFC or if he isn’t getting what he wants, this is exactly the kind of thing he’d pull, even after 15 years with the organisation.
Nate is unhappy with how the UFC has failed to give him a fight this year, the only one he was given being Khamzat Chimaev, a fight he turned down. Diaz tagged the UFC and it’s president Dana White writing, “I Would like to request to be released from the UFC, Dana White, and Hunter I apologize for asking online but u don’t give me a fight asap I got shit to do.”
The tweet came just days after he told his fans he has been trying to get a fight for 7 months. This being the last fight on his contract it must be especially frustrating to not get a fight after constantly calling out fighters like Poirier and Usman. While Nate and the UFC have been in talks to extend his contract, it looks like the Stockton native just shut all of that down.
Khamzat Chimaev immediately took to Twitter to clown on Nate, writing “You need to go dancing ufc is not for you, you gave up.” Quite a stretch trying to tell Nate that he doesn’t belong in the UFC, since Nate has over 20 fights in the UFC with 15 bonuses.
Nate Diaz considers switching promotions, might end up in Bellator
Nate Diaz hasn’t been shy about making plans of joining other promotions publicly. The Stockton native has already tweeted about joining his longtime friend and training partner Yancy Medeiros at Bellator.
Yancy is scheduled at his hometown Hawaii for Bellator 279 and Nate has expressed interest in fighting on the same card along with Yancy. While that particular wish may not come true, considering the UFC hasn’t publicly announced anything regarding his contract, Nate might end up signing with Bellator soon as he is on the last fight of his contract and will be a free agent soon.
