The Women’s bantamweight witnessed a major fight in their division as Kelten Vieria took on Sijara Eubanks in the main card at UFC 253. UFC.
Sijara Eubanks, a multiple time jiu-jitsu champion made her debut in the UFC in 2018. She comes off a 2 fight win streak against Sarah Moras and Julia Avila and will try and continue to raise the streak to 3. With Eubanks’ jiu jitsu background, her ground game will prove to be an advantage.
On the other hand, the #7 ranked Ketlen Vieria made her UFC debut in 2016. She comes off a loss from Irene Aldana via a first-round KO at UFC 245. Ketlen Vieira would try to keep the fight standing, although she has a good submission game.
Round 1 kicked off with Vieria immediately rushes, taking the clinch position against Eubanks. This was followed by a combination from Vieria with same reply from Eubanks. Leg kicks from Eubanks played a major part. Vieria tried the clinch after tough right hand from Eubanks. A beautiful takedown defense from Eubanks as she landed a significant uppercut. Both women go toe to toe followed by body shots from Eubanks. Vieria landed a combo to the rib and the head followed by slinging from both sides. Vieira had a takedown when there were only 10 seconds left in Round 1. Score the card 10-9 (Vieria).
Round 2 started with takedown from Vieria, her 2nd in the fight as she maintains full guard. The referee makes the fighters with no major action taking place while on ground. Body shots by Eubanks are countered with a powerful right hand to the head by Vieria. Eubanks was leading the significant strikes by 37-30.
Final round 3 starts off with a strong jab from Eubanks with Vieria’s attempt to a clinch. Vieria lands more head strikes by 43 to 18 as compared to her opponent. This is followed by more head strikes by Vieria. Both started to land major shots and swing for the fences. Eubanks takes the back but is not able to do something with the position. The fight comes to an end with Eubanks landing shots to the head.
Vieria wins via unanimous decision
Vieria wins via unanimous decision. All Judges score the bout 29-28. With this win, Vieria bounces back to the win column.
