UFC 256 will be Souza’s 35th time he steps into an Octagon professionally. When Souza had a third-round knockout win over UFC 230, “Jacare” moved back and forth in terms of choosing to fight Jack Hermansson and current light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz.
Marvin Vettori replaces Kevin Holland in the fight against Hermansson
Ronaldo Souza was at first scheduled to fight Vettori at UFC 256 before Vettori was pushed up to the Hermansson fight. Vettori will now face Hermansson after Holland tested positive and was pushed to fight in UFC 256 on December 12th.
Hermansson has had a wide variety of opponents to pick from for the upcoming UFC event. He was originally set to take on Darren Till, who had withdrawn due to a knee injury. Then was set to fight Holland but seems now that Vettori is the last decision for him. The 32-year-old Swede is just desperate to compete and seems like any opponent will do.
Vettori has now got a chance to make it to the upper tier of 185 pounds in his first UFC main event. UFC 256 is going to be headlined by a flyweight title fight between champ Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno.
