Huge! Conor McGregor reveals exact UFC 257 PPV buys
Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier at UFC 257
Conor McGregor revealed the exact pay-per-view numbers for his UFC 257 rematch against Dustin Poirier. McGregor took on Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 in January, earlier this year. The rematch, almost 7 years in the making, ended in favour of ‘The Diamond’ after he knocked McGregor out in the second round, becoming the first man to do so.
Since then, Conor McGregor has gone on to fight Poirier in yet another fight as well – a trilogy fight at UFC 264. More recently, McGregor took to Twitter to reveal the exact pay-per-view buys for the UFC 257. The image he shared on Twitter had the projected buys and the collected reported buys.
Collected reported buys slightly under the buys reported by the UFC
The projected buys were 1,500,238 with the collected reported buys slightly more – 1,504,737. These exact numbers were just less than the numbers reported by the UFC following the event. The UFC reported UFC 256 at 1.6 million PPV buys.
It is worth noting that the trilogy fight that headlined UFC 264 helped the event sell 1.8 million PPV buys. Sadly the fight came to a premature end, after McGregor broke his left ankle towards the end of the very first round. The fight was awarded to Poirier via. TKO by means of a doctor stoppage.
McGregor is currently recovering from the ankle injury he suffered against Poirier at UFC 264. He is expected to be back by the second week of January 2022. As for Poirier, he is set to take on Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title. The fight is expected to headline the last UFC pay-per-view event of 2021.
