The UFC 258 was held at the UFC apex, Las Vegas on the 14th of February. UFC 258 prelims ended Saturday night as the top-rated sports program on the cable. The UFC 258 prelims were headlined by Rodolfo Vieira and Anthony Hernandez. The middleweight fight ended up in Hernandez’s favor as he beat Vieira via submission in the second round.

UFC 258 took place last Saturday, the same day as the coverage of the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump. The folks over at Nielsen Ratings system report that UFC 258 prelims headliner ended with an average of 794,000 views over the two-hour broadcast on ESPN. Among the 18-49 year old demographic of viewers, the prelims scored a mere .28 rating.

According to reports, the broadcasts that dealt with coverage of the impeachment were the only one’s rating higher than UFC 258 prelims. The impeachment coverage ratings were highest with 3.723 million viewers on average.

The UFC will aim to get higher ratings on UFC 259 that which takes place on March 6. The fight is capped off by former bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz going against Casey Kenney. The card hosts three title bouts that night including a champion face-off between Israel Adesanya and Jan Blachowicz.

The prelims for the pay-per-view of UFC 257 in 2021 averaged 1.433 million viewers. UFC 257 featured Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor where the Irishman lost to “The Diamond” in their rematch. The views of UFC 257 were double that of UFC 258 but it doesn’t come off as a surprise given the cards.

Arman Tsarukyan and Matt Frevola headlined the UFC 257 preliminary card. Arman beat Frevola via unanimous decision in the third round at the lightweight bout. Along with these two fightings, the prelims card also hosted Brad Tavares and Antonio Carlos Junior at Middleweight.

Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns featured in UFC 258 which was the top-rated sports event on Saturday. Kamaru Usman defended his title by defeating former teammate Gilbert by a knockout. The fight rated higher ahead of a NASCAR Xfinity Series event on Fox Sports.
