UFC 261 rematch : Kamaru Usman opens as overwhelming favourite against Jorge Masvidal

Kamaru Usman will be taking on Jorge Masvidal in a rematch, on the 24th of April, at UFC 261. The pair will be meeting just 9 months after their previous bout at UFC 251 in July 2020. Usman successfully defended his welterweight title against Masvidal at UFC 251, winning via unanimous decision, and he has vowed to finish Masvidal for good, this time.

According to betting odds released by SportsBetting.ag, Kamaru Usman goes into the fight as the strong favourite with betting odds of -355, while Masvidal is listed at +290. The last time the pair met, Usman went into the fight with betting odds of -250 (not as overwhelming as this time!).

Masvidal has claimed he would be a different beast with a full training camp!

Kamaru Usman is coming off a knockout victory over his former teammate and sparring partner Gilbert Burns at UFC 258. Usman thereby defended his welterweight title for the third successive time and went past Georges St-Pierre for the most consecutive wins in the UFC (13 wins). With 18 wins and just one loss to his name, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ will be looking forward to easing past Jorge Masvidal, once again.

Jorge Masvidal, on the other hand, hasn’t competed since his loss to Kamaru Usman at UFC 251. While Usman has maintained that he would want to finish Masvidal, the next time they meet, Masvidal seems pretty sure that things would go his way, if he is given a full training camp. Masvidal took the fight against Usman, on extremely short notice. It is to be noted that, he currently holds the UFC BMF Championship belt, which he claimed after beating Nate Diaz at UFC 244.
