The UFC Lightweight division is finally moving ahead of the former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov as the biggest news came in this morning that the title bout for the vacant Lightweight strap is being booked between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler for UFC 262.

Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira is on an eight-fight win streak in the Lightweight division with his latest win coming against the former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson.

On the other hand, his opponent Michael Chandler; the former three times Bellator Lightweight champion made an impactful debut by ruthlessly knocking out Dan Hooker in just the first round of their fight.

This fight also marked the official announcement of ‘The Eagle’ from UFC as Dana White has been trying for a long time to bring Khabib back but he is a man of a word he ended his career at 29-0 and vacated the UFC Lightweight title.

Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira also acknowledged this with their latest tweets in which Michael Chandler says, “See you at the top” and Oliveira says,  “Let’s go #UFC 262”.

Dana White acknowledged Khabib’s official retirement

This news broke in after Dana White acknowledged that Khabib Nurmagomedov has officially retired and he is not coming back. In his tweet, White says, “29-0 it is. He is 100% officially retired. It was incredible to watch your work Khabib Nurmagomedov. Thank you for EVERYTHING and enjoy whatever is next my friend.”

Also, Khabib shared the same with his Instagram post which says, “It was a good dinner with some great people, Dana White thank you so much brother and the entire UFC team for the opportunity to prove myself, you guys have changed many lives forever because of this sport.”
