UFC 262: Tony Ferguson vs Beneil Dariush being reportedly booked for the event

Beneil Dariush and Tony Ferguson

The former UFC Lightweight interim champion Tony Ferguson is targeted to make his first appearance inside the Octagon in 2021 against the rising Lightweight prospect Beneil Dariush. The news was first broken by MMA Junkie after two people acknowledged them with the same.

‘El Cucuy’ is on the worst streak of his career with two consecutive losses against Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira. The loss against Gaethje broke his 12 fights winning streak and also took the chance from him to face Khabib Nurmagomedov.

With a short notice fight against Charles Oliveira at UFC 256 in December, Tony thought to bounce back but things got worse for him. Oliveira dominated him on the ground throughout the fight and for the first time in his career ‘El Cucuy’ lost the second consecutive fight.

Dariush last fought against Carlos Diego Ferreira in February and with a win against Ferguson, he will look forward to making a huge leap in the rankings.

Will Tony bounce back?

After the loss against Charles Oliveira, many people questioned Tony Ferguson’s career inside the Octagon. UFC fighters, as well as fans, pointed fingers on him that he passed out his prime and it’s time for ‘El Cucuy’ to hang the gloves.
