UFC 265 Fight card
UFC’s one of the most anticipated events, UFC 265 kicked off today. The event took place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. This event has a very interesting lineup of fights on its card. The main card airs on pay-per-view following the prelims on ESPN/ESPN+.
UFC 265 is headlined by the very interim heavyweight title bout between Derrick Lewis vs Ciryl Gane. In the co-main event, we have former featherweight champion Jose Aldo taking on Pedro Munhoz in a bantamweight bout. Not to miss out on the spectacular welterweight clash between Michael Chiesa and Vicente Luque. Apart from the main card, the early prelims and preliminary card had an interesting lineup at UFC 265. Johnny Munoz vs. Jamey Simmons (Bantamweight):

UFC 265 Preliminary card results:
Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Jessica Penne (Women Strawweight):
Round 1: Both the fighters touch gloves and they waste no time trading punches. Penne looks for a kick but Kowalkiewicz caught it. Penne takes the fight to the canvas immediately after probing her opponent with some kicks. Kowalkiewicz came back to her feet but was soon pulled back to the ground. Penne stands up and looks for the big right hand but her opponent doesn’t seem to stop with the movement.
Kowalkiewicz tried to go for the leg lock but Penne gets out of it with ease. Penne switches to an armbar and gets a good hold of her opponent. Penne rolled over and now put Kowalkiewicz in great danger. Oh my god and that is a tap by Karolina.

Alonzo Menifield vs. Ed Herman (Light heavyweight):
Round 1: Menifield started off with a low kick and Herman countered with a punch. Good standup battle to begin with. A jab by Herman and Menifield countered with a low kick. Menifield caught Herman with a left hand and wanted to follow it with a right overhand. Herman now catches his opponent with a jab. A good rally of punches was exchanged between the two fighters. Lot of low kicks from both the fighters but Menifield caused more damage. Solid punch from Menifield to end the round.
Round 2: Second round begins and Herman eats a huge punch from Menifield. Herman looks to respond with a jab but Menifield counters with two punches back to back. Herman was pushed against the cage and a barrage of punches was thrown at him, looked like Menifield was about to end the fight but Herman still stands. A hard leg kicks from Herman and looked like Menifield’s leg has been hurt real bad. Round ends.
Round 3: Herman has been given the pass to continue the third round even after his damaged leg by the doctor. Menifield surprised everyone as he went for the takedown and started throwing punches on Herman from the top. Soon, the two fighters are back on their feet Herman can barely move with the damaged leg. Not a lot of action from the two fighters as they circle the octagon. Menifield lands a right hand followed by a combination. Herman gets the last punch before the fight ends.

Vince Morales vs. Drako Rodriguez (Bantamweight):
Round 1: Morales is the first to land a clean strike of the two. Both the fighters decide to stand up in the center and exchange blows. Morales with a hard right. Both the fighters are light on their feet as they circled the octagon. Morales with the most strikes so far as Rodriguez has barely tested his opponent. An exchange of punches as the round ends. Nothing overwhelming in the first round.
Round 2: Rodriguez is the aggressor this round. He goes for a kick but Morales catches it and takes him down. But they don’t stay on the ground for too long as they stand back up to the feet. Both the fighters in a clinch and then move to the center. Rodriguez and Morales exchange hard punches in the center. Morales with a clean right hand but Rodriguez eats the punch. Drako follows it with a couple of punches as the round ends.
Round 3: Rodriguez needs to get a finish in the final round. Morales was still light on his feet and lands a right hand on Rodriguez. Drako moves forward and catches Morales clean but nothing too dangerous. Morales throws a combo followed by a takedown. But good defense from Rodriguez. The crowd begins to go restless as Rodriguez lands a right kick. The fight ends.

Bobby Green vs. Rafael Fiziev (Lightweight):
Round 1: The two fighters start in the center. Fiziev starts off with a kick. The two fighters exchange punches in the center. Fiziev looks very light on the feet as he trades with Green. Green with a left hand but Fiziev responds with a combo. Fiziev with the body kick and Green lands one later. Both the fighters keep exchanging shots till the bell goes. Nice round but no one is hurt too bad.
Round 2: Second round begins as Fiziev puts pressure immediately and exchanges jabs with Green. Fiziev with a low kick and Green looks to catch it but fails to do so. Fiziev with a combo as Green presses forward. A solid head kick from Fiziev and Green counters with strikes. Both the fighters have a stunning exchange in the center of the octagon captivating the audience. The exchange goes on until the bell goes and what an end to the round.
Round 3: Green once again drives forward putting pressure on Fiziev. Both the fighters replicate the previous rounds’ end as they trade hard in the center. An amazing exchange with Green with a nice last punch. Fiziev is now looking to be the aggressor as he comes forward and lands a head kick. The crowd takes Green’s side with chants to encourage him. Green with another exchange at the end of the round.
