“I would like to test my skills in the Heavyweight division as well,” Jan Blachowicz opens about Heavyweight move after his win against Glover Teixeira at UFC 267
Jan Blachowicz and Francis Ngannou
The UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz is going to lock horns with Glover Teixeira at the main event of UFC 267. This is going to be Blachowicz’s second title defense and the MMA veteran doesn’t seem to hand his gloves anytime soon.
Blachowicz is 38 years old and he is at the peak of his career and ‘The Polish Powerhouse’ wants to compete for at least 3-4 more years before finally thinking about his retirement. Talking about the same in his latest interview with BT Sports, Jan Blachowicz says,
“The younger fighter in my division is also a motivation for me, young guys, strong guys, because of them I need to go to the gym, I don’t need actually, I’ve to go to the gym and train hard because I feel the pressure on my back from them and I’ve to be ready for everybody.”
“I’m ready to everybody, so we’ll see maybe Jiri (Prochazka) is going to be my next opponent, maybe (Alexander) Rakic is going to be my next opponent, maybe they both fight against each other and I’m gonna fight the winner of that fight.”
Blachowicz added, “But I don’t know maybe three of four years before my career will be over, right now I feel the power inside me and I don’t have any serious injuries. I still want to do it and I love to do it and I am on the top, so I don’t see myself finishing my career anytime soon.”
Jan Blachowicz is ready to fight Francis Ngannou as well
The UFC Heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou is booked to face Ciryl Gane in a title unification fight at UFC 270 and Jan Blachowicz believes if Ngannou wins that one and UFC provide him an opportunity to fight for the Heavyweight title, he is going to happily accept it after UFC 267.
Jan Blachowicz says, “I would like to check my skills in the Heavyweight division as well. If UFC actually sends me some good preposition, okay you want to fight (Francis) Ngannou next, of course, why not but if they don’t send it, I’ll do a couple of more fights in 205 before finally moving to the Heavyweight.”
