“I’m gonna eat this guy,” Khamzat Chimaev vows to finish Li Jingliang in their fight at UFC 267
Khamzat Chimaev
The undefeated UFC Welterweight fighter, Khamzat Chimaev is going to make his comeback inside the Octagon almost after a year to face the number 11th ranked UFC Welterweight fighter, Li Jingliang at the main card of UFC 267.
Khamzat Chimaev became a viral sensation in the year 2020 by scoring three consecutive wins in a couple of months, but after that, he stayed out of the competition due to getting adversely affected by COVID. Now after setting his foot back inside the Octagon Chimaev has only one thing in his mind, i.e. to tear down the Welterweight division.
In his latest interview with BT Sports when Chimaev was asked about his fight against Li Jingliang at UFC 267, he says, “I’m gonna eat this guy and not more so much,”
Last year Khamzat Chimaev was booked to face Leon Edwards on three different occasions but due to multiple reasons, this fight never happened. Now as ‘The Borz’ is back in active competition, he has his eyes on Edwards as well.
Talking about Leon Edwards, he added, “I hope I’m gonna fight this guy pretty soon, he got his fight booked, if somebody gets injured I can jump into this fight. It was like we were supposed to fight and one day we’re going to fight. I think Leon is going to win this fight via decision.”
Khamzat Chimaev wants to fight for the Welterweight title before moving to Middleweight
In his three Octagon appearances last year, Khamzat Chimaev fought twice at Middleweight and once at Welterweight. But now he intends to stay in the Welterweight division and capture the title before going back to the Middleweight division.
Chimaev added, “If UFC wants to give me fights every month I’m ready to fight, if I am healthy and have no injury, I’ll be having no problem in fighting. Now I’ll focus on 170 take the belt and then I’ll go up.”
He also believes with a win against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 269, Leon Edwards is going to fight for the title next. Chimaev says, “I don’t think he is going to fight me if he wins this fight because he will be next for the title with a win in this one.”
The fans are excited to see ‘The Borz’ coming back inside the Octagon, it is going to be interesting to see whether his long layoff will impact his performance or he’ll keep ending fighters in the same way he did in 2020.
