“Don’t judge a book by its cover,” Dana White on UFC Heavyweight Chris Barnett for shocking spinning kick knockout win at UFC 268

Dana White- Chris Barnett
It’s official, Chris Barnett is the new star boy to look out for in the UFC. The heavyweight has made headlines with his spinning kick knockout win over Gian Villante at the prelims of UFC 268. Barnett made his UFC debut after coming off a 6 fight win streak. He lost his UFC debut to then opponent Ben Rothwell, but regardless, he made sure he fills the hype for his debut in his last fight.
A thing about Barnett that makes him unique is he is not athletically best in terms of physique. But Barnett’s body functionally is efficient enough to breakdance, throw a spinning wheel kick, and also pull off an awesome sitting front flip in post-fight celebrations. These are all the tactics we saw in his fight with Villante.
“Mentally believing, I am only 170 pounds”

In his post-fight media scrum, Barnett talked about his flexibility as a fighter that too as fighting for the heavyweight. “That’s Taekwondo, from 4 years old up, and then a little bit of Capoeira here and there, and then a lot of break dancing and a lot of video games,” Barnett said.
“If I saw it in the video game I would be like ‘if they did it with the remote cap suit, somebody actually gotta do it.’ so let me go ahead and try it also you know and then also, mentally believing I am only 170 pounds,” said Barnett.

Dana White addressed a question about Chris Barnett at UFC 268 post-event press conference. He said “Listen, he’s impressive. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Spinning wheel kicks, flips, you know, not a bad dance either.” Not decided what’s there for Barnett in future as of now but this spectacular knockout win puts Barnett in against one of the top 15 contenders at heavyweight, a striking match up would put on a good show for the UFC.
Who do you want to see Barnett facing next as the “Beastboy” awaits for his next fight? He can fight Walt Harris who’s a very dangerous opponent and has all his wins via knockout.
