Charles Oliveira slams Dustin Poirier

The main event of the UFC 269 fight card features the fight between the UFC Lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira defending his Lightweight title against the former interim Lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier. Oliveira will be defending his title for the first time and he stepped into this fight riding a nine-fight winning streak with his latest win coming against Michael Chandler at UFC 262.

Dustin Poirier will be stepping into this fight at UFC 269 riding a three fights win streak with his latest win coming against Conor McGregor on UFC 264.

Round 1: Oliveira tries to start the fight with a leaping knee and he pressures Dustin Poirier forward. Oliveira lands an elbow and Poirier answers him with a right hand that dropped Oliveira. He stands back and they both traded some hard shots. Oliveira holds him in the clinch and lands knees to the body, Poirier lands an uppercut followed by a big left hand. Oliveira lands an uppercut of his own and Poirier lands a left hand. Oliveira lands a kick to the body and Poirier lands a right hand to end the round.

Round 2: Oliveira moves forward to put pressure and he holds Poirier in the clinch. Short elbow traded from Charles Oliveira and drags Poirier to the floor. Poirier tries to prevent that takedown but Oliveira gets him into the transition and secures the top mount position. Poirier tries to hold him up but Charles Oliveira lands some of the nice elbows and hurts him really bad with those elbows. The whole round ends like this and Oliveira hurt Poirier bad with some of the nasty elbows.

Round 3: Oliveira lands a front kick to the body and Poirier wants to exchange strikes as he did in the first round. Charles Oliveira jumps on his back and caught his neck. Poirier tried to stay standing but Oliveira keeps working on the choke and that’s it here comes the tap.
