Charles Oliveira has proved all his doubters wrong as he makes his first title defense against Dustin Poirier at the main event of UFC 269.
Oliveira vs Poirier was the main event of UFC 269 which was held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was ended with a fantastic fight between the two lightweight superstars. Charles and Dustin went back and forth in the first round but “Do Bronx” showed why he is levels above any other fighter in the division.
Charles Oliveira defeated Poirier via a rear-naked choke in the third round to make his first-ever title defense. “Do Bronx” has also extended his winning streak to 10 fights making him one of the most dominant lightweights of all time. If there is someone’s legacy to beat for Charles, it is this man, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The former lightweight champion believes the Brazilian deserves it all. It is a shame we never got to see these two fight. However, Khabib was rooting for Dustin to win the fight.
The next title contender Justin Gaethje was not going to miss out on this fight. The fighter sat in the front rows to see who will be his next possible contender and “The Highlight” has a match for him.
UFC superstar Nate Diaz cared more about his bitter rival, Conor McGregor, losing to a Dustin Poirier that is 0-2 in lightweight title bouts. “How Conor let Dp f*ck him up hella times he sucks,” wrote the Stockton fighter.
Islam Makhachev, who is predicted to be a lightweight champion is waiting to face Do Bronx in a lightweight title fight. “Just hold in there for me,” wrote the Dagestani.
Oliveira will be having a tough time picking his next fight as the Brazilian is eyed by many stars in the division. Tony Ferguson believes it is him next, to fight Oliveira as he never got finished unlike the other fighters.
Michael Chandler, another former title contender is waiting to meet Do Bronx again in the octagon so he could avenge his loss in the title fight. 2022 is the date Chandler is looking at.
Daniel Cormier is tired of people discrediting Oliveira for being a warrior inside the octagon. “Can we please stop talking about Do Bronx being a quitter now?” wrote DC.
