UFC Bantamweight Sean O’Malley is one of a kind fighter, unranked yet highly regarded as the one that deserves top-ranked opponents right before breaking into the top 15. O’Malley shot to fame with his infamous knockout victory at Dana White Contender Series that earned him a UFC contract back in 2017.

Since then, Sean O’Malley has run over with 4 knockout victories out of 6 wins in the UFC, the only setback he had so far was a TKO loss to “Chito” Marlon Vera. However, many people when they will be able to see the best of skillset tested against the best of the bantamweight division. O’Malley has called out interesting names like Dominick Cruz, Petr Yan, Cody Garbrandt and now, up and coming top prospect and much feasible match up in Adrian Yanez.

Sean O’Malley is going to fight Raulian Paiva, a well-rounded fighter with roots in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, at UFC 269 this week. O’Malley stops by MMA legend Daniel Cormier to serve an interview for his youtube channel as a part of the media scrum of the fight week. O’Malley talked about his approach to getting the title shot.

“I think there’s a misconception of I’m picking my fights… I have called out Rob Font, Pedro Munhoz, Dominick Cruz, if I’m picking my fights I would’ve got one of these fights,” O’Malley said to Cormier. “I’m not in a rush. If the UFC tells me ‘hey we are going to push up the rankings,’ they are going to give me a ranked opponent,” he continued.

“To me, the rankings don’t matter much, I think it’s more about the performances. I go out there and knock out Paiva [UFC 269 opponent], make a good callout and potentially get the next fight, whether it’s Adrian Yanez, Rob Font, whoever it may be… I am not in a rush for a title, I’m 27 years old, and once you fight the top dogs, you’re not gonna fight anybody but the top dogs.”

“So I am not in a hurry, once I fight the top dogs, I am gonna be the champ, I am gonna defend my belt and fight the next best guy every time, so I am not super worried. It’s gonna happen, a 100% I will be UFC Champion, O’Malley concluded.
