Colby Covington Wins at UFC 272

The main event of UFC 272 is here with a spectacular welterweight bout between Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal.

UFC 272 takes place at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event fight between Colby and Jorge is a grudge match where former friends are getting ready for an absolute blood feud.

Both the fighters are looking to beat up each other inside the octagon and are ready to fight professionally keeping all the trash-talking behind. Both are coming off losses against the current pound-for-pound best fighter and welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. The winner of this fight might again get the opportunity to try for the belt against Kamaru Usman. Let’s see how the fight plays out.

Round 1: Colby started off aggressive but the former best friends are just warming up inside the octagon by assessing each other’s range. Colby takes Masvidal to the fence and started clinching. Colby is taking Jorge’s back and has got Masvidal’s neck. But, Gamebred manages to get off it. However, Colby isn’t losing Jorge’s back and is landing punches on Masvidal’s face from his back. Colby tries to get on top of Masvidal but he did a good job of getting on his feet. Masvidal connects a few kicks on the last 10 seconds of the fight. Colby got a warning for eye poke after the referee rechecked the replay.

Round 2: Jorge starts with a beautiful low kick and has started combining it with jabs. Colby tries for taking and takes him to the cage but Masvidal lands big elbows between. Colby gets another warning for a low blow. Masvidal isn’t looking happy. Colby again gets his back but Masvidal manages to get up and both exchange a few shots. This round looked really competitive.

Round 3: Colby starts off with a few low licks and tries to take down Jorge. But, Masvidal again hits him with the elbow in the process. Covington backs off and again tries for a takedown and got it. This is the best position he has got in the fight. Colby is dominating Mavsidal by lading heavy elbows, big punches to his body over his top. Masvidal is trying all ways to get up. But, Colby is dominating Masvidal throughout this round. Jorge looks tired. Colby is showing his elite wrestling skills and failing Jorge’s every attempt to get up. Finally, Masvidal Gets on his feet in the last 10 seconds of this fight. The third round should go to Covington.

Round 4: Masvidal has to do something in this round. Colby pushes him to the fence and a big right undercut. Both are exchanging shots. But, Jorge is tired after all that ground and pound and Covington is Utilizing it. Ohh Masvidal rocked Coingtn with a right hand on his chin and it’s a knockdown. Colby’s knocks dazzled but however as Masvidal is tired he wasn’t able to capitalize over that knockdown. The round is over.

Round 5: Great start by Covington a big shot followed by a beautiful takedown. Colby immediately takes Jorge’s back and is using his own weight to choke Jorge. Masvidal stands up nicely but both the fighters are still on the fence and Colby is still on Jorge’s back. He is grinding Masvidal and showing sheer dominance on the ground. Masvidal has shown decent wrestling skills. But, those skills against a guy who has wrestled his whole life are certainly insufficient. The crowd is booing Jorge for taking the fight to the ground and mauling him. But, all Colby cares is about the win and grinding. Colby has dominated the whole round. The round finishes but the hatred is still there as Jorge is calling out Covington to fight after the fifth round.
