Kamaru Usman has an offer for Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington
Kamaru Usman suggests that if Jorge Masvidal couldn’t finish Colby Covington in the early rounds then Covington will have a higher chance of him winning.
Usman is currently the pound-for-pound number one fighter in UFC with six consecutive successful title defenses. The ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ has defended his welterweight title twice against both Masvidal and Covington. Usman has dominated and knocked out both the fighters in the past.
Usman has proved from time to time why is the best in the division as well as in the promotion and his resume speaks for itself. For him watching Covington and Masvidal fight is a moment of pride as he has shown his level in front of them.
Kamaru Usman predicts the Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal fight
Usman recently attended the media day of UFC 272 and answered some questions asked by the fans. During the conversation, the undefeated champion talked about the main event, his thoughts on the fight, and future plans regarding his career.
One of the questions that Usman was asked was about what he thinks will happen if the fight between Covington and Masvidal goes to the last rounds. While responding to the question, Usman revealed that if the fight goes to the end rounds it will end up in a bad way for Masvidal. Usman honestly explained that if Masvidal couldn’t finish the fight in the early rounds it would only allow Covington to dominate. If this happens at UFC 272, then it will not give Masvidal any sort of advantage.
“It don’t look good for Masvidal. I’m just being honest. If it goes to the later rounds that means Colby has somehow found a way to keep the fight going as long as he can. So I just don’t think that favors Masvidal,” said Usman.
Covington is one of those fighters in the UFC roster who have impressive cardio and take the fight into deep waters. If Masvidal fails to do the damage in the first few rounds then he will probably get any chance to bounce back in the fight.
