The number third-ranked UFC women’s strawweight fighter, Marina Rodriguez is booked to face the number fourth-ranked UFC women’s strawweight fighter, Yan Xiaonan at the 5th March UFC pay per view, UFC 272 which is targeted to take place at the T Mobile Arena.
Rodriguez will be stepping into this fight with a three-fight win streak with her latest win coming against Mackenzie Dern on UFC Fight Night: Dern vs Rodriguez and Xiaonan will be coming into this fight with a loss against the former UFC women’s strawweight champion, Carla Esparza in her last fight.
This news was first reported by MMA Junkie, when Xiaonan’s management, Paradigm sports made an announcement about this fight. The Chinese fighter, Yan Xiaonan was on a six-fight undefeated streak before facing the loss against Esparza in her last fight.
The UFC women’s strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas will be defending her title against Esparza next, as it was recently clarified by Dana White. This makes the stakes very high for this match to be a number one contender fight for the next title shot.
Marina Rodriguez is 3-1-1 in her last five fights and she scored the biggest win of her career against Dern. Now, the Brazilian fighter will be aiming for nothing less than the title shot but the Chinese fighter, Xiaonan can be her biggest test and it is going to be really interesting to see who is going to pick a winner in this one.
