UFC 273 went down on Saturday night. Aljamain Sterling who took on Petr Yan emerged victorious after the five-round battle. Aljamain entered this fight as a heavy underdog and silenced many UFC fans and critics.

Aljamain won the first three rounds on the scorecards of two judges. In the post-fight press conference, Aljamain said, ”I felt like that was still a lackluster performance from my end I just hold myself to really high standards and I know I am capable a lot more than that.”

Many fans and critics including UFC president Dana White had Petr Yan winning the fight as they thought Yan easily won the first, fourth, and fifth rounds. Aljamain Sterling successfully held down Petr Yan for the majority of the 2nd and the 3rd round. Although he wasn’t able to submit Petr while on his back but he really showed that he has a world-class jiu-jitsu black belt.

Aljamain Sterling was quick to call out TJ Dillashaw right after winning the belt. In the post-fight press conference when asked if the 3rd fight with Petr Yan is possible he replied “Hundred percent if he wants to go 3-0 against me.” He admitted there are several exciting matchups to be made in the bantamweight division against the likes of TJ Dillashaw and Henry Cejudo. Although he said his preferred opponent would be TJ Dillashaw as he is excited about the stylistic matchup between them.

He doesn’t think TJ survives a five-round fight against him like Petr Yan did. After hearing the news of Henry Cejudo entering the USADA testing pool Sterling admitted he would be interested in that matchup as Henry’s got great hands and an even better wrestling game. He said this about Henry Cejudo. He stated, “If the muppet wants to come back and triple C wants to get demoted to double C we can do that.”
