Rising welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev is one of the hottest prospects in the UFC right now. He got two wins in a span of 10 days upon his arrival in the organization, and he’s been on an absolute tear ever since. His last performance against Li Jingliang was absolutely terrifying.
Chimaev was long awaiting a fight that would get him to the top of the weight class as quickly as possible because he knows his potential has no bounds. Many people believe that Chimaev can be not only one but two-division champion in the UFC if he continues to run over the opponents the way he has shown in the past.
Many athletes like Belal Muhammad, Neil Magny, and Geoff Neal called Chimaev out multiple times but weren’t enough to satiate the latter’s competitive interest, that’s when Burns entered the scene. Former title challenger, Gilbert Burns is a force to be reckoned with, and he’s all set to derail this hype train.

Khamzat is incredibly big for his weight class, and as many suggested he’s incredibly strong as well. Daniel Cormier is a big fan of the guy, and he points out the thing that makes him so dangerous. “Khamzat is big. He’s got fantastic striking with tremendous power. He’s got unbelievable wrestling, and obviously he has good grappling. But to me, it’s the smothering top pressure of Khamzat Chimaev that causes these guys so many issues – and he’s long and he’s big. How does Gilbert Burns, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion and black belt, handle a heavy guy like that on top?” DC said in his recent YouTube video.
DC believes dominating Gilbert won’t be easy for Khamzat, but given his massive size, he can surely get the victory against him. He said, “Would I bet that he’s going to dominate him in that way? No, I think going to get challenged in ways that we have not seen him get challenged today or to this point. I think he’s going to get challenged, but do I think he’s going to win? I think the size difference will be the biggest issue for Burns to overcome in this matchup. So I will say, I think Khamzat wins the fight, but I don’t know if he wins the fight in as dominant of fashion as he has won so many.”
