The 42-year-old champion returns to the octagon for the first time since becoming fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a UFC champion. At UFC 267, Teixeira took on the powerful, Jan Blachowicz and dethroned him of the belt to be crowned at the ‘young’ age of 42. Glover is now looking to make his first title defense of his UFC career. Despite being in the promotion for a decade, this is the first time Teixeira has managed to get his hands on the undisputed gold.
Prior to his title fight at UFC 267, Teixeira last fought for the belt in 2014 against Jon Jones. 7 years of hard work finally paid off for the veteran and he managed to get hold of the belt. Teixeira is currently on a 6-fight winning streak and will make his title defense against one of the most dangerous fighters, Jiri Prochazka.
Jiri is currently on a 12-fight win streak in his professional mixed martial arts career and is one of the very few fighters in the UFC to get a title shot after only two fights into the promotion. Both his performances have been against top contenders in Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes. Prochazka managed to finish both his opponents and his knockout against Reyes was surely one of the best in the division’s history.

This fight is a very tough one to predict. Both the fighters have elite stylistic points and Jiri has a 97 % finish rate in his professional mixed martial arts career. The former RIZIN champ won’t be looking to anything different against Glover. The Czech national has confirmed in the pre-fight press conferences that he will look to finish the fight in less than 5 rounds.
Glover is no alien to finishes as well. The light heavyweight champion has the most finishes in the light heavyweight division’s history and in his last 6 wins, 5 of them have come via finishes. Teixeira will try his best to take Prochazka to the mat. Though Prochazka is strong it will be very tough to prevent a takedown attempt from Teixeira.
