Now, the UFC has French fighters like Ciryl Gane and Benoit Saint-Denis representing the country on the highest level. As such, the Frenchman will fight Dustin Poirier in a huge step up at UFC 299. Ahead of the matchup, he invited the French President Emmanuel Macron to witness the showdown.

MMA has been illegal in France for a long time. But, it didn’t discourage fighters like Benoit Saint-Denis from chasing their dreams. In 2020, after numerous consultations, MMA was made legal in the country, and the UFC even had an event in Paris. With Saint-Denis making rumbles in the lightweight division, French MMA has grown significantly. However, the ‘God of War’ noticed political personalities staying away from it and wanted them to make an appearance. As such, he called out France’s President Emmanuel Macron after his fight against Matt Frevola.

After his fight at UFC 295, Benoit Saint-Denis addressed the magnitude of the event. He was grateful to be able to perform in front of former US President Donald Trump. He believed Trump’s presence at the event made a huge impact. Moreover, Saint-Denis valued the attendance of such political personalities as it helped the sport reach a wider audience. As such, he had a message to the French President Emmanuel Macron.

Having served in the French army, ‘God of War’ was patriotic towards his country and wanted to win the UFC title.

Seeing this, Saint-Denis thanked the French President and invited him to his upcoming fight at UFC 299.

Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit Saint Denis goes down as the co-main event of the stacked UFC 299 fight card. The vent takes place at the Kaseya Center in Miami. As such, Emmanuel Macron’s commitment to visit Miami remained unknown. As such, one has to wait until the event to confirm whether the French President attends UFC 299.
