Arman Tsarukyan became the number one contender at lightweight at UFC 300. Before the fight, he had to punch a fan who tried to get into a fight with him as he walked out. The fan later apologized and stated he wouldn’t go for a lawsuit but issued a request. Despite the unfortunate incident, Tsarukyan overcame an early scare to win via split decision against Charles Oliveira.
Tsarukyan punched the fan as he made some disrespectful action against him. The Armenian later revealed that he was ready to go to prison for the action. Nonetheless, UFC CEO Dana White stated he would readily face the lawsuit. However, the fan won’t go for a lawsuit but requested tickets for UFC 303, headlined by Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler. The fan also apologized to Tsarukyan and even made the same ticket request, to which Tsarukyan happily obliged.
It was good, but then he asked me about tickets to UFC 303...So I gotta give him a ticket.Arman Tsarukyan via UFC Unfiltered

Charles Oliveria is a big fan favorite, and the arena was on the side of the Brazilian. Therefore, it was not a surprise to see fan hate on Tsarukyan. Months before, fans disrespected Tsarukyan at a promotional press conference as they predicted victory for Oliveira. Interestingly, at that press conference, he answered an NSFW question from some Armenian fan, which was disrespectful towards Kayla Harrison.
Tsarukyan is not the first fighter to punch fans in the audience. Paulo Costa did something like that at UFC 294 in UAE. However, Costa did not fight at the event due to injury and attended the event as a spectator. Brandon Moreno had bottles thrown at him in Brazil after he defeated Deiveson Figuerido at UFC 283. The fan and fighter interaction is nothing new and will likely happen in the future.
Arman Tsarukyan reveals reason why he rejected to fight Islam Makhachev at UFC 302
In addition to Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler, Dana White also announced Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier. Both fights would headline UFC 302 and UFC 303, respectively. Interestingly, both PPVs are in June and Poirier was not the first choice for Makhachev for UFC 302.

Tsarukyan’s manager revealed that the UFC offered them the fight. The UFC made the announcement only after Tsarukyan rejected the offer. In a recent interview with UFC Unfiltered, Tsarukyan revealed the reason to reject the matchup.
For Islam [Makhachev], I got a recovery now and then, like chill, and then start preparing from my body to train hard. And then started training hard. I want to start training on the highest mountain and then middle mountain. Then come to the, I mean like a lot of things, you know, like I got to do. And I want to be ready 100%.Arman Tsarukyan via UFC Unfiltered
Even though many praised Tsarukyan’s decision to say no, Michael Chandler did not think so. The American fighter stated on the MMA Hour that he would’ve accepted the fight if it were him. Nonetheless, most fighters thought Tsarukyan was right to reject the relatively short-notice fight.
