Movsar Evloev vs. Aljamain Sterling is back on the cards – happening before the end of 2024 (barring any further incidences). On Friday, the UFC announced that the featherweight bout between Sterling and Evloev now takes place at the UFC 310 event on the 7th of December. This marks the last pay-per-view bill of the year, Live from T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV.

The key featherweight fight between Movsar Evloev and Sterling (24-4 MMA, 16-4 UFC) was to be on the pay-per-view feature prelims for UFC 307, on October 5th. However, the former 135lber elite with a record reign had to pull out due to injury. He had visibly tweaked his shoulder, handling sparring partner Jeremy Kennedy‘s Kimura attempt from below. Later, the Russian out of the American Top Team (ATT) also left camp and was removed from the card.

With both fighters fighting to the top of the 145-pound division, this is an important fight. When the UFC 307 main card was to air on ESPNews/ESPN+10:00 A.M. onwards, Aljamain Sterling was to be the third-last fight of the night. Per the original lineup, at least. With other title fights zooming in out of nowhere, fans had worked up much anticipation about this one making sense with all the banter.

Evloev (18-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) is yet to lose in UFC competition and is a potent challenge. His victories include Arnold Allen and Diego Lopes among others. Meanwhile, Sterling made his debut at the milestone UFC 300 PPV in April with a win over Calvin Kattar. The wrestle-heavy fight was his first since his UFC bantamweight title reign ended last August. Subsequently, this is not the only big add-on of the event.

Alexander Volkov vs. Ciryl Gane move from UFC 308 to UFC 310 confirmed

The UFC’s final pay-per-view of the year features a 265lbs rematch – one that’s a long time coming. An injury to Alexander Volkov (38-10 MMA, 12-4 UFC) forced the promotion to re-book him against Ciryl Gane. The promotion made the billing official on Friday for UFC 310 in December.

UFC 310 (pay-per-view, ESPN+) takes place with the heavyweight duo presumably on the main card, shows ESPN’s homepage. Ex-Bellator champion Volkov is coming off a four-fight win streak over Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alex Romanov, Tai Tuivasa, and Sergei Pavlovich. His unanimous nod in the key matchup in the UFC on ABC 6 co-main event especially put him in the running again to be a top contender for the title equation.

That’s where he was when he fought Gane for the first time in the middle of 2021. In that headline bout, Gane walked away with a unanimous victory call. Volkov bounced back with a win over Marcin Tybura before a submission skid by current interim champ Tom Aspinall. Yes, that’s right (cue in the gasp that the heavy-handed quick streak can also fight on the ground).

Gane beat Volkov in their first fight when he was trying to move up. He made it 9-0 before dropping down. Now with Volkov on a 4-0 rebound, this will be a matchup for the ages. In addition, the UFC 310 range (Streaming December 7-8 / 11:00 AM GMT+8) includes:

— Ciryl Gane vs. Alexander Volkov
— Aljamain Sterling vs. Movsar Evloev
Dominick Reyes vs. Anthony Smith
Virna Jandiroba vs. Tatiana Suarez
Clay Guida vs. Chase Hooper
Michael Chiesa vs. Max Griffin
