The UFC 311 PPV event has an update regarding the main event fight. UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev is scheduled to clash with veteran Renato Moicano instead of Arman Tsarukyan in just a few hours. Notably, this will be Moicano’s first championship appearance, and he is expected to earn significant payouts and salaries for his fight at the UFC 311 event.

According to Renato Moicano’s contract, he does not receive a substantial salary. Reports indicate that the Brazilian fighter earns $120,000 for showing up and an additional $120,000 if he wins a fight in the UFC. With that in mind, ‘Money’ Moicano is expected to earn a similar payout from the championship fight at UFC 311. However, there is one intriguing detail to consider.

Typically, the headliner fighters earn a share of the pay-per-view sales. With Moicano stepping in to replace Arman Tsarukyan, his base pay is likely to increase up to $500,000. In addition, the Brazilian fighter may also be eligible for fight bonuses. However, there is also a possibility that Moicano doesn’t get a PPV cut. In that case, his payout will be around $100k to $250k more based on the result of the fight.

However, unlike Moicano, Makhachev is guaranteed a significant payout for his UFC 311 fight outing. The UFC lightweight champion is guaranteed a base salary of $750,000, with an intriguing obligation. Makhachev’s total earnings could rise to $3.5 million, depending on the number of pay-per-view purchases generated at UFC 311.

Renato Moicano’s past affairs with UFC post-fight bonuses

Brazilian fighter and UFC veteran Renato Moicano has been making waves with his performances in the octagon lately. In 2024, he enjoyed one of the most successful stretches of his UFC career. Notably, he faced several formidable opponents and emerged victorious against all of them. However, despite his impressive performances, ‘Money’ Moicano has had bad luck in receiving post-fight bonuses.

Moicano began the year 2024 with a victory over Drew Dober at UFC Vegas 85, where he received his standard base salary as outlined in his contract. He then fought twice more, achieving notable wins against Jalin Turner and Benoit Saint-Denis, respectively. Despite these impressive performances, the Brazilian fighter expressed disappointment at not receiving any post-fight bonuses.

Throughout his UFC career, Moicano has earned fight bonuses on only two occasions. The first was after his loss to Brian Ortega, for which he received the Fight of the Night bonus. The second came in 2018 when Moicano secured a remarkable rear-naked choke against Cub Swanson.

Now, it will be interesting to see if ‘Money’ Moicano, who thrives to earn fight bonuses, can achieve another bonus after his upcoming fight against Islam Makhachev.
