Dricus Du Plessis and Sean Strickland will meet each other inside the octagon this Saturday at UFC 312. The fight will take place inside the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney with the UFC middleweight title on the line. It will be the second time both fighters will go against each other. As expected, the bad blood is quite palpable.

Ahead of UFC 312, Sean Strickland has started the trash-talks, and has promised a war against DDP. The champion, on the other hand, is unfazed and ready to defend his belt. In a recent interview, the South African star talked about the boring side of ‘Tarzan.’

Let’s not go and act as if Sean Strickland’s fights are entertaining. The man has eight split-decision victories…That is not somebody who’s looking for exciting fights…. He’s fighting not to lose, and he’s good at frustrating people.

DDP expressed that he prefers offense over defense and goes for finishes, unlike the American middleweight. According to the champ, the biggest difference is that he’s there to kill his opponents, not pick up a win via points. On the other hand, the contender is known for promising war against opponents, but not following through

Strickland is well aware of this criticism around him and recently addressed the cause behind it. The former champion believes against top opponents, the competition is massive which frequently results in close fights. However, this doesn’t go hand in hand with his extreme trash-talking to destroy his opponents.

Sean Strickland shares the similarities between him and Dricus Du Plessis

Dricus Du Plessis defeated Sean Strickland at UFC 297 last year to become the middleweight champion. It was a brutal and bloody fight, where both fighters went back-and-forth for five rounds. In the end, DDP was announced as the winner via split decision that resulted in some controversies.

Strickland and many fans believed that the American fighter was robbed by the judges. As such, this time, both fighters wants a concrete result. The challenger believes he has better skills than the champion, but it is still an equal battlefield. In a recent interview, he shared how Du Plessis compensates for his awkward fighting style.

What I tell people at the highest level of competition. Motherf***** don’t break. Like I don’t break, he doesn’t break. You think at some point at rounds where he’s gonna get off and say, “I don’t wanna be here”. You can blind him in the eye, break his f***** nose and he’s gonna get up, me included and we’re gonna fight.

Irrespective of the close fight at UFC 297, the South African bounced and showed great dominance against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. Going into the battle, he’s the betting favorite, and fans are expecting an entertaining main event. It would be interesting to see who comes out as the champion after the fight.
