Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland is gearing up for an exhilarating championship fight set for this weekend. He will step into the Octagon to challenge Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 312. As the countdown to the fight begins, the former UFC middleweight champion has been garnering attention in the UFC community.
The open workout sessions for the UFC 312 PPV event took place on February 5th at the Sydney Town Hall. Notably, Sean Strickland participated and sparred with a fan. During this brief sparring session, Strickland adopted a fighting stance similar to one of Conor McGregor’s at UFC 205. Remarkably, while throwing punches, the former UFC middleweight champion kept both of his hands behind his back.
Interestingly, Conor McGregor displayed the ‘hands behind the back’ buzzing stance during his fight against Eddie Alvarez, shortly before knocking Alvarez out. Similarly, Strickland demonstrated a comparable approach with a fan named George when he landed a brutal body shot during a sparring session. This moment was one of Sean Strickland’s notable activities leading up to his UFC 312 fight.

Speaking about his relationship with McGregor, Strickland does not have a very favorable view of the Irishman. However, there have been moments when the American fighter found inspiration in the ‘Notorious.’
Currently, due to McGregor’s controversial activities, Strickland does not seem to hold a positive impression of him. Interestingly, this is not the first time ‘Tarzan’ has engaged in a sparring session with a fan ahead of his UFC fights.
Did Sean Strickland sparred with the same fan from UFC 293?
Sean Strickland is a veteran fighter in the UFC, having made his debut in 2014. Since then, the American fighter has thrived in the promotion, driven by determination and a quest for the UFC gold. In 2023, Strickland headlined a UFC pay-per-view event (UFC 293) for the first time in his career. He faced Israel Adesanya for the UFC middleweight championship.
Before their championship fight, Strickland met a fan named George for the first time during a sparring session. This sparring session gained significant attention due to a notable remark made by Strickland, who took a jab at Adesanya as well. Additionally, that particular pay-per-view event was crucial in establishing Strickland’s current status within the promotion.
With a victory over Adesanya at UFC 293, Strickland became the UFC middleweight champion. However, in his next fight, he lost his title to Dricus Du Plessis. Currently, the UFC 312 event is set to host the rematch between Strickland and Du Plessis this weekend. It remains to be seen if ‘Tarzan’ can seek revenge against the South African fighter.
