“A great fighter, his striking is unbelievable” Israel Adesanya’s skillset lands an impressive opinion from Petr Yan

Petr Yan- Israel Adesanya
UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has not only mesmerized his fans as a talented striker but also many fighters as well, and interim bantamweight champion Petr Yan is included in this list. Yan is going to face his rival, the undisputed champion Aljamain Sterling in the co-main event of UFC 273 in a title unification rematch. The first fight between the 2 ended in a disqualification move from Yan making Sterling the winner and the new bantamweight champion.

Adesanya on the other hand is on a title defence run and has done it 4 successful times, with his last time going against preceding middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in a rematch at UFC 271. Adesanya is also #2 on UFC’s pound for pound rankings and has recently become one of the top paid athletes in the promotion. Adesanya is most likely expected to fight #3 ranked middleweight Jared Cannonier for his fifth title defence.
Petr Yan recalls sparring with Israel Adesanya back in 2014 in Thailand

In a Youtube Channel called Smesh Bros, Petr Yan talks about sparring with Adesanya in Tiger Muay Thai gym in 2014 and there’s no doubt Yan is a fan of the former’s showdown of skillset. “At the time [in 2014] he had just transitioned to MMA,” says Yan “His striking obviously was crisp. He’s a great fighter. His striking game is on another level.”
What do you make of Yan pouring lauds on Adesanya? Where do you see Adesanya’s potential peaking? Will he be able to surpass middleweight great Anderson Silva’s title defence record of 10? Who do you think will win between Yan and his opponent Aljamain Sterling at UFC 273?
