The fight that the fans wanted to see has finally been confirmed by the promotion. Gilbert Burns will officially take on the rising superstar Khamzat Chimaev in a welterweight fight at UFC 273 in April. The two fighters have been going at each other for the last few months and the fight has finally been materialized.

Chimaev is no stranger to talking trash and is easily one of the most confident fighters in the UFC roster. Burns gives his take on Chimaev’s confidence in a recent interview with The AllStar. “I don’t think he is arrogant, I just think he is very confident,” says Gilbert in the interview. “Especially he is undefeated. I have been there. I was 10 and 0 and my first loss, I was 10-0 and then 10-1 but I do believe he is a little bit overconfident.”

“He thinks he is untouchable. He’s never seen a loss. I’ve been there before, you know. Three fights, four fights, I think I am going to be a champion and for sure I was overconfident. And I think he is a little bit overconfident,” said Burns about Chimaev’s confidence level. Burns’ first loss was against Rashid Magomedov in 2015, before which the Brazilian was undefeated as a professional fighter.

Despite Burns thinking Chimaev is overconfident, the Brazilian thinks his trash-talking has done him well so far. Khamzat has managed to build himself a massive fanbase with his fighting style, trash-talking, and confidence. Burns is the #2 ranked contender in the welterweight division and Chimaev is already fighting him despite having only four fights in the UFC.

Chimaev is currently 10-0 and has finished all his opponents. His recent win comes against Li Jingliang at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi. Do you think Burns can stop Khamzat at UFC 273?
