We last saw Sterling being crowned the champion at UFC 259 and while becoming the only champion in UFC history to have won the title via disqualification after being hit with an illegal knee by Yan during their first encounter.

Yan,however, later on went to become interim champion after having defeated Cory Sandhagen in a 5 round bout which took place last October at UFC 267 and  is more than eager to reclaim The Throne which he thinks is rightfully his.

Petr completely dominated the first four rounds of the fight only to lose to Aljamain after landing an illegal knee to his head. Aljamain however seems to be living in a bubble and thinks that it was him who was the dominant opponent.

In Aljamain’s opinion, he thinks the Cheat Petr Yan doesn’t deserve the rematch and thinks the Russian should just bow out when he can.

The two contenders are yet to fight again after the last controversial fight, with both of them constantly bickering on social media about it. Yan tweeted ‘Undisputed UFC bantamweight champion’ last year and Aljamain has decided to clap back now as their second fight looms over them. Aljamain told Petr to grow up, accept his loss and recognise his own shortcomings. Petr responded in kind saying Aljamain lost his dignity after their first fight, crying before the media. The title fight between the two is shaping up to be quite the event considering the bad blood between the fighters.

The interim bantamweight champion Petr is slated to fight for the bantamweight belt held by Aljamain at UFC 273. However the Russian isn’t in the clear yet. Even though Petr has a valid visa and can enter the United States his cornermen might not be able to make the trip with him. This is because his corner-men have been denied visas to the U.S by the U.S government.

This is obviously a massive blow for the Russian as he will not have the support he usually gets before the fight, not to mention the coaches help during the fight itself. According to Igor Lazonin from Russian Tass Agency the visa requests of Petr’s cornermen was denied but Petr has 3 years valid visa and can enter the United States for UFC 273.
