Alexander Volkanovski beats The Korean Zombie

Alexander Volkanovski defended his featherweight title against The Korean Zombie at the main event of UFC 273. TKZ was looking to fulfill his destiny of becoming the first Asian champion in the history of the company. The champ was keen on keeping his title, and he absolutely dominated his opponent to do the same.

Alex started the fight with the intent to kill, and he immediately put Zombie on his heels. Alex started blasting Zombie left and right, and some of those shots were really doing damage. Alex was a step ahead in every exchange, and Zombie was getting battered in there. He got stunned a few times, but as the name suggests, he is too tough for his own good.

By the end of round three, Zombie’s face was an absolute mess, and referee Herb Dean was keeping a close on him. Just as the 4th round started, Alex landed a perfect 2 punch combination that snapped Zombie’s head back, and the referee stepped in to stop the fight. He saved Zombie from himself, and everyone in the arena was glad he did the same.

Volkanovski really separated himself from the crowd with his last two performances, and he knew Zombie was no match for him. He said, “I told you this before I’m on another level right now, I can’t be stopped and I just showed you. He actually took a lot more than I wanted him to… I thought they could have stopped a bit earlier… I started feeling bad in there, but that’s the sport we’re in… but yeah there was a couple of people… uh close to us that passed away this week… that was for you guys (and) everyone back home.”

With a win over Zombie, we can now expect Alex to settle his rivalry with Max Holloway in a trilogy fight.
