Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway
Alexander Volkanovski defended his featherweight title against The Korean Zombie at the main event of UFC 273. Alex was supposed to face Max Holloway, but he had to pull out from this fight because of an undisclosed injury. Many featherweights threw their name in the mix for the title, but the champ picked The Korean Zombie.
The event started with an absolute war between, Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev, and it was followed by the bantamweight title rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan. The headliner was all set, and Alex went out there are absolutely dominated Zombie to retain his belt.
Alex looked better than ever, and Zombie was barely able to put any damage on him. Alex was blasting his opponent left and right, and he almost stopped him at the end of round 3. Herb Dean was keeping a close eye on Zombie, and he stopped the fight when Alex stunned him with an amazing combination.

What Alex did was almost unreal, and his controversial wins over Max Holloway are the only thing that’s keeping him from being the G.O.A.T of the division, he discussed the possibility of a third fight against him during the post-fight conference.
“I don’t think anyone’s ever done that to Zombie“- Alexander Volkanovski takes pride in his performance against Chan Sung Jung at UFC 273
Alex said he is getting better with each fight, and what he did to Zombie seemed impossible to many, “I said that’s what I was going to do,” Alex said. “I’d been showing everyone, telling everyone all week I’m going to show I’m on another level. I’m raising the bar each time, and you saw that. All these guys can’t touch me. I don’t think anyone’s ever done that to ‘Zombie’ – not like that. It just shows that I am on another level, and the next time I get in there, I’m going to be better again.”
Alex wants to achieve the status of the best fighter to ever step inside the octagon, and that third fight against Max is necessary to prove his worth, “That’s a fight I wanted purely for the haters and all that type of stuff. Obviously, I want the biggest fights. He showed that that’s probably going to be the biggest fight. So we’ll talk to the team, we’ll see if he wants it, we’ll see if we want it, if the team wants it if the UFC wants it, and then we’ll make that decision. I’m going to make the right decision for the right reasons.”
