Alexander Volkanovski on Henry Cejudo
The featherweight title fight between the champ, Alexander Volkanovski is set to defend his title against The Korean Zombie at the main event of UFC 273. Alex was supposed to face the former champ, Max Holloway in a trilogy match but he pulled out from this fight because of an undisclosed injury.
Many threw their name into the mix, but the champ was interested in fighting TKZ. Zombie is a true legend of the sport, and he’s been at the top of the division for over 10 years. His last title defense came against Jose Aldo, and after a good start, he dislocated his shoulder, which cost him the title. Zombie has been on an absolute tear since, and this title shot couldn’t have come at a better time for him.
Zombie has been training under the wing of former double champ, Henry Cejudo at Fight Ready. After his retirement he took many athletes under his wing, some of the names include, Zhang Weili, Jiri Prochazka, Jon Jones, and Deiveson Figueiredo. He wanted to fight Alex, but now he’s making sure TKZ brings his head off to him.

In his latest Instagram post, Cejudo posted a picture of the featherweight and him on the training mat. He also had a message for Volkanovski. “[We] are coming for your oversized head Alexandre ‘The Average’,” wrote Cejudo. The Korean Zombie also resonated with the same energy and also commented on it.
Volkov has been doing everything in his power to prepare for this fight, and he isn’t bothered by Cejudo giving out tips to TKZ. In UFC 273 countdown video, Volkov said, “I’m going to give Henry respect, but he thinks he can turn this guy into someone that is going to smash me? He’s just going to embarrass himself.”
“Zombie is doing what he can do, but we’re going to keep it the same. Living where I do, you know, I mean being in the place that I grew up in makes me feel like I’m just still the same guy I was 10 years ago. Just a working-class man working to provide for my family. They mean everything to me. I want to make sure my kids have everything they need in life. That’s why daddy is going to stay champ for a long time,” Volkov concluded.
