“It’s stupid. It’s gay,” Former UFC fighter Alistair Overeem is not a fan of WWE, goes off on Brock Lesnar and CM Punk’s return
Alistair Overeem and Brock Lesnar
Alistair Overeem is not a fan of Brock Lesnar or CM Punk’s work. The former UFC fighter goes on a rant about how he thinks WWE and other pro-wrestling organizations are lame.
Alistair Overeem is a former UFC fighter and an MMA veteran. The heavyweight has some amazing wins against top fighters of his generation. One of his victims in the octagon was Brock Lesnar. Overeem and Brock fought each other at UFC 141 in the year 2011. Alistair won the fight via TKO in the first round. Despite getting the win, he is not a fan of his former rival’s recent return to WWE.
Overeem appeared on MMA Fighting’s MMA Hour hosted by Ariel Helwani and went on a rant about Lesnar and AEW star CM Punk. Alistair admits to being a fan of pro-wrestling entertainment when he was a kid but surely is not a fan these days. “The thing is with that whole wrestling thing, I watched it when I was 8, 9, 10 years old,” said Overeem, said. “Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, huge fan of those guys. Honky Tonk Man. Great, funny. Andre The Giant. I stopped watching after that, so I’m not watching since.”
“It’s not even a sport,” says Alistair Overeem
Alistair said that he recently tried to catch up with what is going on and was disappointed when he watched it on YouTube. The heavyweight couldn’t emphasize enough that business being fake. “It’s just lame what these guys are doing. It’s fake. It’s lame. It’s stupid. It’s gay. It doesn’t make any sense,” Alistair went off. Helwani didn’t stop there, he went ahead and asked about the entertainment factor and Overeem lost it.
“It’s lame. It’s not even a sport. It’s just lame. It’s bad acting. It’s just lame. Sorry for all the fans of WWE, but I’m just being honest. I’m just giving my opinion. Free country, right? I think it’s lame, and because I hadn’t seen it for 20 years. I never watched Brock fight. I never watched CM Punk fight. I knew they were from WWE,” said Overeem.
