Rafael Dos Anjos might have won the fight at UFC 272 but Renato Moicano sure did win everyone’s heart with his performance yesterday in the blockbuster PPV co-main event.
Renato Moicano is a true company man as he saved the promotion from losing a stunning fight in the co-main event. The veteran lightweight agreed to take on a former champion, Rafael Dos Anjos in the co-main event of one of the biggest PPV cards of this year. Moicano absolutely got everyone at the T-Mobile Arena on the edge of their seats during his fight at UFC 272.
When Rafael Fiziev pulled out of the fight just five days earlier. Renato decided to step in and take part in the biggest fight of his career. The fighter lost via unanimous decision but showed great heart as he stood toe to toe against RDA for five rounds. While many believed the fight should have stopped earlier, Moicano made sure he convinced the officials he was good to go for five rounds.

After immediately heading out to the hospital following his deadly performance against RDA, Moicano made sure he let the fans know his feelings after the fight. “No excuses, thanks Rafael Dos Anjos and UFC for this opportunity,” said Renato on his Twitter account. “Today doesn’t define me. I’m victorious in life, the way I handle myself with my family and my team.”
“Thanks God, this is a great time to be alive. Never forget, I’m always chasing the BIG MONEY PORRA!” wrote Moicano in his post-fight tweet. Moicano is coming off a stunning win against Alexander Hernandez at UFC 271 which was on February 13th. Less than a month later after his win, Renato accepted a fight against top contender RDA on 5 days’ notice.
Moicano has a record of 16-4-0 in his professional career and will surely go on to be one of the favorite fighters for the rest of his career with performances like this. What did you make of Renato’s fight today?
