“Being defeated in front of the family”- Tai Tuivasa speaks on what made him take his MMA CAREER seriously

Tai "Bam Bam" Tuivasa

Tai Tuivasa is one of the most loved fighters in the UFC roster. The heavyweight has managed to become a favorite in a very short span of time.

Not long ago, Tuivasa was hitting a bad spell in his fighting career. Now, the fighter is on a four-fight winning streak and is a fan favorite. A Tai Tuivasa fight is a must-watch for MMA fans. Mostly for his knockouts but also for his crazy “Shoey” celebration. The Australian fighter has come up from a very poor background and winning means the world to him.

In the recent episode of MMA Hour, Tai spoke about his life and what made him overcome the three-fight losing streak. The 23-year-old heavyweight is one of the youngest in the division and is on his way to the top of the mountain. Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Tuivasa said that he is grateful for the losses in his life because of the lessons it taught him.

When Ariel Helwani asked what made Tuivasa take his training and preparation for fights seriously, “Bam Bam” said losing fights put him in the right path. “Losing, losing helped me. Being punched, being defeated in front of your family, in front of your friends, also the world. It means a lot to me. My mom’s seeing there with me bleeding through my nose,” said Tai in the recent MMA Hour episode.

“I know I’ve got more to give. I’m just getting started. I’m still one of the youngest,” said Tuivasa on his career growth and his ambitions. Tuivasa is coming off a stunning win against Augusto Sakai at UFC 269. The Australian is now on a four-fight winning streak. The fighter has not been one of the best-paid fighters but he hopes his recent wins put him in the conversation for a bigger contract.

Who would you like “Bam Bam” to fight next? Tuivasa is currently ranked at #11 in the UFC heavyweight rankings.
