Belal Muhammad calls out Colby Covington at UFC Vegas 51
Belal Muhammad believes he is ready to hang with the big guns of the UFC welterweight division as he calls out Colby Covington following his win against Vicente Luque in the main event of UFC Vegas 51.
Belal Muhammad has once again proved to the world that he can beat the high-level competition. The fighter has been racking wins upon wins in his UFC career. Leading up to the main event fight at UFC Vegas 51, Belal was ranked #6 as he took on #5 Vicente Luque. With this win, Muhammad has the third-longest winning streak among active welterweight fighters. After his win, in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, Muhammad believes he deserves a fight against #1 welterweight contender, Colby Covington. Muhammad says he is tired of calling out the champion so he will work his way to a title shot by taking on Covington.
The fighter has been trying to land a fight against the top five of the division for a long time now. “I’m going to stop calling for the champ cause nobody wants to give me that shot,” said Belal in his post-fight interview.

“Let me call out the big mouth Karen. Colby Covington’s out here calling out 155-pounders. Come fight a real 70-pounder, you coward. I’m a real 70′ pounder. I’m winning fights. I’m not Masvidal off two losses. I’m not Woodley off five losses. I’m Bully B off seven wins. Come fight a real challenge, coward,” said Muhammad in the post-fight interview.
Colby is coming off a dominant win against his grudge rival, Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. The two-time welterweight title contender has a lot of options on his table for his next fight. The promotion’s boss, Dana White suggested at UFC 273 that Colby would be fighting rising superstar Khamzat Chimaev next.
Now that Belal has beaten Luque at #5, he is left with only #4 Gilbert Burns, who is coming off a Fight Of The Night performance against Chimaev. #2 Leon Edwards is fighting for the title against Kamaru Usman. Do you think Gilbert Burns vs Belal Muhammad is the ideal fight to make next?
