Belal Muhammad recently locked horns with Vincente Luque at UFC Vegas 51 inside the UFC APEX facility. In the fight, Muhammad out out a great performance and beat Luque via uninamous decision.
Currently Belal Muhmmad is in an incredible seven fight streak and is looking extremely well. With a rise like this it is evident for fans to expect him to fight for the belt soon. The competition for the welterweight title just just got intense in the last few weeks.
Leon Edwards has been in the race for a long time now and now Muhmmad just beat #5 ranked fighter. Another major challenger for the title is Khamzat Chimaev who recently beat Gilbert Burns.
After defeating Vicente Luque at UFC Vegas 51, Belal Muhammad appeared in the post fight press conference. In the interview, the fighter talked about his fight, upcoming challenges and welterweight title shot.
Belal Muhammad questions Leon Edwards’ eligibility for the title shot
During the interview, ‘Remember the Name’ was asked about his thoughts on Leon Edwards and his title contender credibility. While giving his opinion, Muhammad explained that unlike Edwards he is fighting the top five ranked fighters and taking every fight in the toughest division. The fighter claimed that Edwards does have more wins than him but he has fought better quality opponents. According to Muhammad, the Brit doesn’t deserve the title shot and has the Dana White privilege. Muhammad revealed that he doesn’t want to get any favours and will like to earn his shot with more wins.
“I’m the one that’s going through five, four, three, two, I’m the one that’s saying yes to the toughest in the division. Leon may have more wins than me but he doesn’t have the quality of ones that I have… I don’t think he deserves to fight for the title. I think he got that Dana White privilege but you know, whatever, like I said, I don’t, I don’t expect to be handed anything, I have to fight for everything I got and I’m willing to keep doing that.” Said Muhammad.
As fight fans, it is extremely entertaining to see such rivalries in the division which is stacked with killers. It will be interesting to see how things will go down and who will be next in line to challenge Kamaru Usman.
