Former UFC star B.J. Penn had an explosive fight arsenal during his prime days as a fighter. He destroyed a lot of his opponents devastatingly. However, the octagon was not the only place the fighter took down people. In 2019, the lightweight fighter had a street fight with a stranger outside a strip club in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The fighter made headlines for his controversial brawl in 2019. TMZ reported the scuffle. According to the sources, B.J. Penn ‘tried to fight everybody’ at the club. In a video that was captured during the altercation, Penn tried to fight the bouncer. The lightweight fighter also shoved his forearm into the bouncer’s throat. The former UFC fighter desperately attempted to submit the man due to their altercation.

Several bystanders tried to separate Penn and the bouncer. At one point, one of the witnesses punched the fighter in the head in an attempt to stop the fight. However, the other bystanders pushed him off for the Hawaiian champion to end the scuffle. TMZ also reported that the police were called. However, an arrest warrant was not issued, and it was not likely for Penn to face time.

This was a horrifying altercation reported by the sources. Although the motives are unclear, B.J. Penn is a retired fighter famous for getting into altercations in the street. Unfortunately, the street fights are recorded and are part of his legacy. As of now, the legendary lightweight fighter remains out of trouble for his political future.

This was supposed to be a redemption fight for the Hawaiian fighter due to his previous loss against Edgar and Rory MacDonald. However, the fight failed to go his way. In the post-fight press conference, an emotional B.J. Penn addressed his decision to retire following the brutal loss.

This is the end. If I didn’t make this night happen for myself, I would’ve always wondered and always went back and forth and begged Dana to let me get back in. I needed some closure. It takes a high energy level to compete with the top people in the world. You could have every technique figured out, this and that, and all your theories ready to go. My lasting legacy is going to be highlight reels. I cannot continue to feed myself,” said Penn as he broke down in tears.

This was a heartbreaking moment for fans. His loss against Frankie Edgar was rough for the Hawaiian fighter. BJ Penn is one of the best lightweight fighters of all time.
