Islam Makhachev is currently on an outstanding nine-fight win streak which started in September 2016 against Chris Wade. Since then, the fighter has dominated every single fighter who stepped inside the octagon with him. The Dagestani has fought various talented fighters like Drew Dober, Thiago Moisés, Dan Hooker and won the fights without breaking a sweat.

His next fight against Beneil Dariush could have been his toughest fight but now it seems like that’s not the case.

As per the reporter, BeneilDariush has suffered an ankle injury during his training and will not be able to fight Makhachev at Fight Night. Okamoto also explained that the fight has not been official yet but is most likely to take place at a catchweight and Makhachev has also said yes to the proposal.

What’s that you say? Bobby Green in his UFC main event? How about taking on Islam Makhachev in 10 days? Per sources, Green will replace the injured Beneil Dariush on Feb. 26 against Makhachev. Not done yet, and likely a catchweight. But both have agreed to the fight,” writes Okamoto.

Dariush missing out fighting against Makhachev is a letdown for MMA fans as everybody was extremely excited for the match-up. But now, Green has a chance to continue his winning streak and get higher in the rankings. The 35-year-old American recently got a lot of appreciation for beating Nasrat Haqparast via unanimous decision at UFC 271.

Before that, the fighter also dominated Al Laquinta and knocked him out at UFC 268 in the first round. Green didn’t get any serious injuries while fighting Haqparast so he might be at his 100 percent going against Makhachev on February 26. But fighting against an elite wrestler like Makhachev will not be an easy task at all.
