“It’s just stupid”- Brandon Moreno responds to Deiveson Figueiredo’s allegations of racism

The Brandon Moreno vs Deiveson Figueiredo trilogy is probably the closest two fighters’ skill and ability have been in the UFC. Since neither fighter clearly got the better of the other after three fights, a fourth between the two was highly anticipated and by all means the only fight to make.
However, it looks like Figueiredo has thrown a spanner in the works. Figueiredo has said that he’d like to fight Kai Kara-France next instead of Moreno after Kai beat Askar Askarov. Kai from his side has accepted Figueiredo’s challenge and has expressed interest in the title fight.
Figueiredo has cited Moreno’s team throwing racist remarks at him as the reason why he will not fight Moreno a fourth time. Figueiredo said that he was likened to a monkey which if true is incredibly racist.
About the allegations of racism, Moreno had to say that the whole thing was silly. One of his teammates Marcelo Rojo used filters on Instagram throughout the press conference. He was streaming live on Instagram and used different filters on Dana White, Moreno, and Moreno’s teammates. While streaming, he also captured Figueiredo and used different filters on him.
He said, “Because it was a live stream, he didn’t save it he was using filters on everyone, Dana White, my teammates he even used a filter on me, he was switching filters. And then appears a monkey filter on Figueiredo, that’s true and someone took a screenshot, we don’t know who and starts calling Marcelo Rojo a racist. And you know Marcelo, you’re not going to let me lie, he’s not racist.”

Deiveson Figueiredo knows that his chances of winning a fight against Brandon Moreno are slim while a fight against Kai Kara-France would be much easier. If Figueiredo fights Moreno it will be a tough fight which isn’t something Figueiredo wants. Moreno says that it’s the fight the UFC wants and he has already said yes.
So if Figueiredo wants the money fight it’s obvious that the fight to make is against Moreno. The only person who could possibly stop the fight from becoming a reality and he seems to have done so. Moreno has suggested that he and Kai fight for the interim title and the winner will go on to fight Figueiredo for the belt.
