“That’s my little show,” Bobby Green pitches unique idea for TV show to end Conor McGregor-Nate Diaz rivalry
Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz 2
UFC Lightweight Bobby Green is one showstopper of an entertainer when it comes to fighting, perhaps could be one showstopper as a talk show host as well. Green came to gain a lot of respect from the MMA community lately for his step up to save the UFC Fight Night 202 fight card as the fight between Islam Makhachev and Beneil Dariush fell apart due to Dariush’s injury and Green took the fight against an unstoppable force like Makhachev on a 10-days notice, provided he already fought 4-days before taking that fight.
Even though Green lost his last fight, there’s the willingness to step up that the UFC and the fans are fond of in him. However, this is not the first time Green was fighting on short notice. More than half of his fights have been on short notice. Green, a Strikeforce veteran, is a man overcoming adversity to reach where he is today. From the death of his younger brother in a shoot out to awaiting a father figure to guide him for 20 long years, “King” Bobby Green has seen it all about what hard times actually look like.
Bobby Green pitches a unique reality show on Joe Rogan’s podcast
In a talk with UFC colour commentator Joe Rogan on his podcast THE JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE, Green talks about the idea of having a talk show where he could resolve famous rivalries, like that between UFC megastars Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. Starting off from UFC 196 fight week, McGregor and Diaz shared a lot of heat during the press conferences leading up to their rematch at UFC 202. To this day, McGregor and Diaz trade trash talk against each other and the fans hope for a trilogy someday.
“I wanna take fighters who have had beef. You know we take the world’s best beefs if we could get the two fighters in the same room. Sit them down and let them speak,” says Green “Let’s see if we can call it a peace treaty… Do some sh*t like that. We go over the craziest beef and stuff over time, you know. That’s my little show. Like, imagine if we got Nate and Conor in the room. Nate is my cousin, so I think I can get Nate to do it. But Conor, I don’t know about that,” Green concluded. [h/t Essentially Sports]
What do you make of Bobby Green’s idea on a television show that squashes beef through confrontation? Do you think it will affect the fight business of the UFC or any other combat promotion since bad blood has been the elixir of good buildup for a fight? Where do you put Green amongst your all-time fan favourite fighters? Who do you think is next for Green? For him, “King” is ready to fight as soon as May 2022.
