“Can beat everyone except for…” Belal Muhammad reveals who can threaten Khamzat Chimaev’s undefeated record
Belal Muhammad- Khamzat Chimaev
UFC Welterweight Belal Muhammad is down this weekend looking to avenge his second last loss and keep running on his 6-fight winning streak when he faces Vicente Luque in a rematch this weekend at UFC on ESPN 34. Muhammad, who’s 20-3 in his overall MMA career, got knocked out by Luque in the first fight but since then, Muhammad is 10-1 in his last 11 fights, with a no-contest setback alongside a loss.
Muhammad is coming off the biggest win of his career when he defeated former 2-time UFC title challenger Stephen Thompson via unanimous decision as he swept feet off his opponent’s ground via his dominant wrestling pedigree last year in December. Muhammad has now broken into the top 5 rankings of the UFC’s welterweight division and is looking into a new level of competition.
Belal Muhammad feels Khamzat Chimaev cannot beat his style of fighting
In a pre-fight media scrum, Muhammad talks about his rematch against Luque, the state of the welterweight division and his vision for the future as a fighter. Muhammad takes time to talk about newly inducted #2 welterweight Khamzat Chimaev as well, who’s coming off the biggest win of his career in a fight of the year contender against former title challenger Gilbert Burns at UFC 273. This was Chimaev’s first fight that went to distance and he is just 11-0 as a professional fighter.
“He’s a guy that I think can beat everyone in the division,” said Muhammad “Except me,” he concludes.
What do you make of Muhammad’s confidence in being a legit obstacle to Chimaev? Do you think he can get the job done by giving Chimaev his first bitter learning experience of the latter’s career? As of now, who do you think wins the rematch between Muhammad and his upcoming opponent Vicente Luque? One thing that Muhammad, Chimaev and Luque share is that they all are always hungry in competition, enough to take the toughest battles available on the grounds ruled by current welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
