Nick Diaz might be returning to the octagon

One of the biggest superstars in MMA might be returning to action this year. Nick Diaz returning to the octagon was never certain but Cesar Gracie might just give the fans some hope.

Nick Diaz finally made a return to the octagon against his former rival Robbie Lawler in a rematch at UFC 266. The Stockton superstar after being banned from the sport, return to fighting in 2021. However, the fight ended in a terrible fashion as the Diaz ended up getting knocked out in the third round of the fight. Diaz headed into the rematch against Lawler with huge expectations from the fans but couldn’t deliver.

Diaz’s longtime coach, Cesar Gracie recently revealed that the fighter is looking to fight by the end of 2022. “Look for @nickdiaz209 to fight by the end of the year,” wrote Cesar on his Instagram account. The comments were filled with fans suggesting potential opponents for the Stockton superstar as he comes off a loss against fellow veteran, Robbie Lawler at UFC 266.

Despite the fans being excited to watch a legend of the sport return to the octagon after nearly 7 years, Diaz was clearly not in the right place to fight according to the UFC President himself. Leading up to his big fight against Lawler in 2021, Diaz kept hinting that he didn’t want to fight anymore and he absolutely hated it.

Dana White in an interview with ESPN post the Diaz vs Lawler 2 fight commented on the future of the Stockton fighter. “Regardless of how good he looked or what he did after such a huge layoff, I don’t think Nick should fight,” said White. White also believes it felt like Diaz was forced to fight.
